How To Create Your Own Self hosted Blog -Newbies Guide

Self hosted blog means, having your own URL or domain name like www.yourname.com and also have storage (hosting) and a platform like WordPress,Tumblr and Blogger etc, to publish your content. For having your own domain and hosting, you have to pay some amount to their providers, and it can be severe and time consuming, to create a self hosted blog, if you don’t have any idea about how to create a blog. So follow these easy steps mentioned below.

 SELECT A DOMAIN & REGISTER IT.

  Firstly, you have to select a domain for your blog. If you are newbie you must be wondering, what is domain? Domain name is useful system used for addressing to internet web servers. A domain name represents an Internet Protocol (IP) resource .It is very important and is used in URL (uniform resource locater) to identify particular website (Example:  www.yourname.com) on the internet. Domain name is a primary necessity to create a self hosted blog. So, choose a domain name, there are many domain name registrars available on the internet like Namecheap,  Godaddy or Name.com etc. It will cost you at maximum price of 10 $ which you can easily afford. Before selecting your domain name, you have to check for its availability. you may don’t get the name which you want, because it has already been taken ,so try 2-3 names which are best suitable for your niche and check availability, and if it is available register it. And always first try to resister a TLD (TOP LEVEL domain) create your self hosted blog

 SELECT A WEB HOST.

      After the domain name, the next thing you need is the reliable and affordable web hosting plan.web hosting service is an internet service that allows your website to be accessed in World Wide Web. And web host are companies which provide you a space on a server, where your data is stored. There are many web host companies available on the internet like Hostgator,Bluehost and Dreamhost etc.You can choose any of them at a cost 5-6$ per month. The top web hosts provide excellent features like live chat, free call support etc. So buy a hosting plan, I would recommend you to buy an unlimited shared hosting plan as a newbie,it will be good for you.

SELECT A CMS (CONTENT MANAGEMENT SYSTEM).

       After purchasing your domain name and hosting the next step, to create a self hosted blog  is to select a CMS (CONTENT MANAGEMENT) where you would publish, modify your content, as well as manage your website. Some of the famous content management systems are WordPress, Blogger, Tumblr, Drupal, Joomla etc.Wordpress.org(self hosted) is the best CMS among all the CMS because it provides many features like plug-in architecture and a template system.It is currently the most popular CMS in use on the internet,so I will suggest you to go for wordpress.org.After, that you have to install the particular CMS on your web host server, most web host have a c-panel ,from where you could select and install your CMS on your web host in just 5 minutes and after that your web host will provide you login details via email. Now enter your login details and after that you will enter your dashboard from where you could publish, edit and manage your blog. So start blogging and produce fantastic content.

    I switched to self hosted WordPress in May 2012 and I have never regretted that.
    Before my switch I was using Blogger, but the amount of freedom I get from self hosted WP is very much to my liking. I wouldn’t switch back.
